Visibility is another factor people describe. A beach meetup is conducted in the open, sometimes among families, tourists, and other beachgoers. For some, this is a welcome experience of ordinary public presence. For others, particularly those who are not out in all parts of their lives, it introduces a level of exposure that an indoor gathering would not. Neither response is unusual, and people within the same group may hold both at once.
