Another point of confusion concerns identity. Community centres vary widely in who they serve. Some are broadly LGBTIQ+, some focus on specific populations such as trans people, migrants, older adults, or people living with HIV. Others are general community facilities that host a queer group once a month. Knowing what a given space is for tends to precede any productive engagement with it.
