The third area is transparency. Guests are entitled to know, in broad terms, what they are consuming. This includes obvious matters such as major ingredients, but also less obvious ones: whether a dish contains alcohol, whether it includes animal products, whether anything unusual has been added. In social settings where substances sometimes circulate, the principle extends further. Introducing anything into food or drink that a person has not knowingly agreed to consume is not a matter of etiquette. It is a serious violation of consent and, in most jurisdictions, a criminal act. Community discussion of hosting increasingly treats this as a baseline rather than a nuance.
