Within adult social communities, mobility accessibility is often discussed only when it fails: an address turns out to have stairs that were never mentioned, a venue's accessible entrance is locked, a meeting point requires a longer walk than anticipated. These are rarely acts of hostility. More commonly they reflect the fact that people who move through spaces without friction tend not to notice the friction those spaces create for others.
