Emotional harm in this area tends to arise in two ways. The first is sudden exclusion: being turned away at a door, or an event ending abruptly, can feel personal and humiliating even when the cause is a capacity limit or a condition unrelated to the individual. The second is displaced blame, where an organiser under pressure enforces rules sharply and a guest experiences it as rejection by a community they were trying to join.
