Community experience suggests that the healthiest groups are those where individual variation is treated as ordinary. Someone stepping outside for air, sitting out of a conversation, or leaving early is not making a statement about the group. Where this is understood, participation becomes easier for everyone.
| Safety=Awareness in group contexts is largely about autonomy remaining intact when attention is divided. Consent operates the same way among several people as it does between two, but it is easier to lose track of. A person may agree to a general plan while feeling differently about a specific moment within it, and the group's momentum can make that distinction hard to voice.
