One of the defining characteristics of written communication is the absence of non-verbal cues. In face-to-face conversations, people naturally interpret tone, facial expressions, gestures, and timing alongside spoken words. Online, much of this context is missing. As a result, brief messages may sometimes appear more direct, emotional, or ambiguous than originally intended.
