Alcohol is commonly present at picnics and is worth thinking about in the same terms. Outdoor gatherings tend to run long, sun and heat alter tolerance, and consumption is harder to track without a table or a fixed serving point. Consent, in any register, depends on people being in a state to give it, and this is the aspect of outdoor drinking that participants most often underestimate.
