Autonomy runs in both directions. A host is not obliged to modify their home beyond what is possible, and there is no obligation to accept a plan that does not work. What both parties can reasonably expect is accurate information in time to make a real choice. Where a plan cannot be made workable, saying so directly is more respectful than a vague reassurance that leaves someone to discover the problem alone.
