Hosting brings the ordinary responsibilities of opening one's home. Guests are in a private space, often for several hours, and hosts may wish to consider basic matters of privacy, comfort, and the presence of housemates. Where alcohol is part of the evening, its effect on judgement, on competitive tension, and on how people get home is worth some forethought. Many groups find that games and heavy drinking do not combine especially well.
