Private venues, most commonly someone's home, offer quiet, control over the environment, and continuity. They also introduce asymmetry. One person is a host with knowledge of the space, its exits, and its rhythms; the other is a guest. This asymmetry is not a problem in itself, but it is a real difference, and it is generally understood to carry more weight when people do not yet know each other well.
