This is often described in terms of the return journey rather than the outbound one. Getting somewhere is usually straightforward; people are motivated, the timing is chosen, and the route is planned. Leaving is where difficulties accumulate. Late-night service reductions, unfamiliar neighbourhoods, weather, tiredness, and the cost of a taxi at an inconvenient hour can all turn departure into a negotiation.
