There is also a tendency to treat noise sensitivity as a sign that a host is uptight or insufficiently confident. This framing is unhelpful and frequently inaccurate. Housing conditions differ enormously, and a host in a converted period building with wooden floors is working within genuinely different constraints than someone in a modern insulated flat.
