Autonomy is central here. Nobody is obliged to stay longer than they intended, and the right to leave at a time of one's own choosing does not require justification. Pressure to extend a meeting — even gentle, well-meant pressure — can carry risks when it makes someone feel that leaving would be rude. A stated departure time is a boundary like any other, and treating it as negotiable can undermine consent more broadly.
