The most common disappointment is invisibility. Someone attends, walks for an hour, speaks to almost nobody, and leaves concluding that they were rejected. More often the group was absorbed in existing conversations and no one took responsibility for including a new face. This is a failure of structure rather than of the newcomer, though it rarely feels that way at the time.
