A second misconception is that weather cancellations are neutral events. Emotionally, they often are not. Being cancelled on — even for a legitimate reason — can register as rejection, particularly for someone who was already uncertain about the meeting. The harm rarely comes from the cancellation itself but from the silence that follows it. A cancellation with a proposed new time reads as a delay; a cancellation without one reads as an ending.
