Emotional harm tends to arise in ordinary moments rather than dramatic ones. Being the only person not eating. Being asked repeatedly why. Having a requirement described as fussy in front of others. Discovering that a stated need was quietly overlooked. None of these are hostile acts, and most are unintentional, but the cumulative effect is a sense of being an inconvenience rather than a welcome guest.
