It is useful to separate the complaint from the manner in which it was delivered. People often raise concerns badly: at the wrong hour, with more irritation than the situation warrants, or through a note rather than a conversation. The delivery may deserve little sympathy while the underlying point still deserves consideration. Treating a poorly phrased complaint as automatically invalid tends to prolong the situation rather than resolve it.
