Autonomy remains central. A stated expectation is not a promise, and no one is obliged to follow through on something described in advance if their feelings have changed. Community experience suggests that treating prior messages as leverage is a recognisable warning sign, and that a person who responds to a revised expectation with pressure has provided useful information about themselves.
