Emotional harm in these situations rarely comes from a single deliberate act. It more often accumulates through small omissions: an introduction that did not happen, a question that was never redirected, a departure that went unnoticed. None of these is blameworthy in isolation. Their combined effect is nonetheless real, and people who have experienced it tend to describe it in terms of invisibility rather than rejection.
