There is also a recognised tension between inclusion and intimacy. Not every gathering can or should be open to everyone; small groups and events with a specific focus have legitimate reasons to exist. Community perspectives generally distinguish between a gathering that is deliberately limited and says so honestly, and one that presents itself as open while operating otherwise. The first is a boundary; the second tends to be experienced as exclusion.
