Leaving a situation is a legitimate response. There is no obligation to stay until a conflict is resolved, particularly where alcohol, exhaustion, or unfamiliar surroundings are involved. Where a disagreement appears to be escalating toward physical risk, disengagement and, where necessary, external assistance are appropriate.
