What distinguishes a gathering from a simple meeting between two people is the presence of a group dynamic. Behaviour is observed, norms are transmitted informally, and the atmosphere is created collectively rather than negotiated privately. That shift is worth understanding before attending or organising one.

| Understanding=Gatherings are usually held together by three elements: a host or organising group, a set of implicit or stated expectations, and a shared reason for people to be present. When those three are aligned, the event tends to feel coherent. When they are not — when the stated purpose and the actual behaviour diverge — attendees often report confusion or discomfort, even if nothing overtly wrong occurred.
