| Understanding=Inclusion is frequently misunderstood as the act of drawing someone into the centre of a group. In practice, community experience suggests the opposite is often more effective. Being pulled into a spotlight can be as uncomfortable as being ignored, particularly for people who arrived intending to observe before participating. Inclusion is better understood as the removal of barriers to participation rather than the enforcement of it.
