Visibility is a real consideration for gay community groups in some regions and neighbourhoods. A group of men walking together is unremarkable in most contexts, but organisers in less accepting areas often think carefully about how a group is identified, whether route details are shared publicly, and whether anyone would be exposed by attending. These are individual judgements, and participants are entitled to make them privately.
